M. Shirley (Schoonmaker) Uhl, 89, of Kingston, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at home with her family by her side. She was born December 28, 1922 in Kingston, to the late Moses and Jeannette (Gorsline) Schoonmaker. She was married to her loving husband of 59 years, George W. Uhl. George passed away on July 22nd 2008. Shirley worked for many years as a seamstress in Kingston before working for Kingston Hospital as a house keeper until her retirement. She loved watching and feeding birds, completing word puzzles and crocheting afghans. She was very crafty making Christmas Balls and small Christmas Trees. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Uhl of Kingston, Theresa VanEtten and her husband Wayne of Kingston, her sister, Arlene Orr of Kingston as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Hilda Wells, Dorothy Laratonda, Jeannette Nagy, Laura Palen and Morgan Schoonmaker. Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Monday from 4 - 7 pm with a service starting at 7pm.
