Mary P. Hamsher, 61, of Hillside Drive, Hurley, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Kingston Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born January 10, 1949 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to the late Frederick J. and Pearl (Vincent) Peterson.
Mary was the wife of Jeffery P. Hamsher, they wed on November 11, 1978 at St. Joseph's RC Church, Kingston.
Mary was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1968, and had attended Ulster County Community College. For many years she had worked in the banking and financial industry in the community. For many years she had been the bookkeeper for Ulster County Community Action.
She was very involved in collecting Annalee dolls, Fenton Glass, and antiques. She loved animals, often adopting strays, she at one time rode and showed horses, and had also showed dogs.
She loved to bowl, play softball and was active in many area leagues.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sister Patricia A. Hendricks and her husband Raymond of Kingston, Rose M. Zoda and her husband James of Glasco, three nephews, two great nephews and two great nieces. Sister of the late Charles F. Peterson.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday at 2pm. The Rev. Arlene Dawber, celebrant. The family will receive their friends from 1 - 2 pm.
