Mary Markle

Mary Ann Markle, 98, of Hurley, passed away on Wednesday morning Sept. 13, 2023, at the Tenbroeck Center Nursing Home. She was born May 31, 1925, in Watertown, CT, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Adele Roberto Schordine. The wife of the late Donald Chipp Markle, they wed on June 27, 1948 in Ellenville, then moved shortly thereafter to the home they built in Hurley. Mary grew up on Chauncey Street in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Kerhonkson High School Class of 1944. Mary graduated from SUNY New Paltz in the class of 1948 and was a teacher at Kerhonkson Elementary School from 1948 - 1951. She was married for 66 years.

Mary is survived by her sons; Donald Markle Jr. and his wife Betty of Kingston, John R. Markle and his wife Sally of Nicholasville, KY and Geoff Markle and his wife Amy of Chittenango N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Chris, Breanna, Emily, Benjamin, Isaiah and Joanna Markle; great- grandchildren Lee, Charlotte, Logan, Perrin, Madison, Hudson and Greyson, a sister Elena Black of Kerhonkson, a brother Frank Schordine of Poughkeepsie and nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Judi McCarthy, Nancy Schordine, Wendy Welch and Judy Smith for their devotion and care.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Sunday, October 8 from 11am to 12pm. A funeral service will take place at 12pm. Interment will take place at a future date in Benton Bar Cemetery at the discretion of the family.
