Mary Jane Doherty-Viano

Mary Jane Doherty Viano of Bluestone Park Road, Saugerties died Wednesday, October 20, 2008 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 83. She was born June 22, 1925 in Carbondale, PA the daughter of the late Simon Frasier and Helen Wilbur Stewart. A homemaker, she received a BS in Biology from Rider College and attended Drake Business School and Ulster County Community College. Her happiness derived from her family and she enjoyed playing the piano and knitting. Her first husband, John J. Doherty died in 1962 and her second husband, Fortunato Viano died in 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Turk of Saugerties and Mary Jane McGrath of St. Remy and a son, Stewart Doherty of Kingston. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amy Friess, Brian Stewart Doherty, Kerri J. McGrath, Elizabeth M. McGrath, Melissa S. McGrath, Brian Turk, Caitlin Turk and two great-grandchildren, Brady Friess and Reilly J. McGrath. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 AM - 12 PM. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 12:00 noon at Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston. Deacon Jack Peters will officiate. Burial will be private.
