Mary Elizabeth Cicale of Kingston died on January 27, 2018 after a long illness. The day of her passing was filled with the presence of her loving family.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 18, 1931 to the late Agnes and Dominic Decker, Mary is survived by her beloved husband Roy and their daughters Virginia "Ginny" Provost (and husband Steve) of Manchester, NH, Diane Rolfe (and husband RC) of Ridgefield, CT and Mary R. Cicale of High Falls, NY. Grandchildren are Michael Provost (and fiancée Stacia Anderson), Christopher Provost (and wife Jillian), and James Rolfe. Mary was predeceased by a granddaughter Anne Elizabeth Provost in 1994.
Mary graduated from St. Joseph's College for Women in 1953, the year of her marriage. Mary was a gifted artist, writer and teacher. Her earliest work was with deaf and hard of hearing children. She later taught English classes at Sisters of St. Ursula Academy, retreat art classes at Mount St. Alphonsus Seminary, and religious education and sacrament formation courses to many classes of children at Immaculate Conception Church in Kingston. She served her parish as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, Catechist, and active Volunteer, creating artwork and restoring statues to beautify the church environment. Mary will be remembered for her kindness, faithfulness and personal courage.
The family thanks the Kingston Dialysis Center and TenBroeck Commons Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Calling hours are from 3-6pm Wednesday at Keyser Funeral Home, 326 Albany Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM on Thursday, February 1st at Immaculate Conception Church, 467 Delaware Avenue.
