Mary E. Caunitz, formerly of Esopus Ave., Town of Ulster died Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at TenBroeck Commons. She was 93.
She was born in Kingston, a daughter of the late Jesse A. and Edna F. Mower Cericola. Mary previously worked at Robert Hall, Kingston. She was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church. Mary was a well-known area seamstress and was a passionate gardener and baker. A pet lover, Mary was predeceased by her beloved dog, Tiffany.
Beloved wife of the late Norman W. "Red" Caunitz who died March 26, 1990; loving mother of Dolores "Laurie" Osterhoudt of Saugerties and the late Norman J. Caunitz; mother in law of Helen Caunitz of Town of Ulster, sister of Dorothy Longendyke and the late Katherine Diers; grandmother of Mary Lou and Tina M. Osterhoudt, Chris Stanley, Yvonne Caunitz, Tara Clark and the late Floyd J. Osterhoudt. Nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 a.m., by The Rev. Duncan Burns, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Katsbaan Cemetery, Saugerties.
