Mary Dolores DeVeau formerly of Hinsdale St., Town of Ulster died Monday, December 21, 2009. She was 89.
She was born in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Clifford and Mary Ellen Glynn Cashdollar, Sr. Mrs. DeVeau moved to Saugerties in the 1920's. She graduated Saugerties High School and then trained at the Benedictine Hospital School of Nursing from 1938 - 1941.
Mrs. DeVeau worked at Jamaica Hospital and Queens General Hospital until her marriage to Girard S. "Rod" DeVeau in 1942. She moved to Kingston in 1945 and worked, as a Registered Nurse at Benedictine Hospital, from 1957 until retirement in 1986.
A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, she was a member of the Benedictine Alumni.
Her husband, Girard S. DeVeau died October 7, 1992, two brothers Clifford Cashdollar Jr. and Richard Mower, and her beloved step mother Helen E. Cashdollar all died previously.
Surviving are her daughter Mary Ellen Medve and her husband Joseph of Kingston, her son Girard R. DeVeau and his wife Marian of Hightstown, NJ; one sister Helen Collier of New York City and Montana; one brother of Barclay Heights and Donald Cashdollar of Grandville, Michigan; five grandchildren Joseph and Christopher Medve, Lisa Antonovich, Jennifer and Matthew DeVeau; six great grandchildren Nathan and Belle Antonovich, Olivia and Connor McGowan, Meggin and Mia DeVeau; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery, Barclay Heights.
