Mary Catherine Brady, 68, of Kingston, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center. She was born December 8, 1945 in The Bronx, to the late James and Beatrice "Betty" (Condon) Brady.
Mary was a graduate of Lehman College. She had previously worked at Sullivan ARC as the Assistant Executive Director and at Ulster ARC as the Director of Day Programs.
For the past 18 years, she has been educating children in both Kingston and Plattekill at Head Start.
Mary was very active in the community; she volunteered with the Ulster Literacy Association where she was both a tutor and a trainer, and helped develop a literacy program for both men and women at the Ulster County Jail serving as both instructor and mentor on a weekly basis since 2003. She was a member of the Ladies AOH, and very proud of her Irish heritage. She was also a former Board Member of the Kingston Area Library.
Mary was a parishioner of St. Joseph's RC Church in Kingston where she was a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered with the jail ministry, and was a Religious Education Instructor at St. Joseph's Religious Education Program
Mary is the loving mother of Christine LaValle and her husband Andrew, whom she considered her son, of Kingston, and the loving grandmother of, Matthew, James (Jim), Michael, and Katelyn. She was the sister of James Brady of Frederick, MD, Patricia Jeffrey of Massapequa Park, NY, Kat Brady of Haliewa, HI, and Eileen Ingrim of St. Louis, MO.
Mary's greatest joy was family. She was the most amazing mother, and will live on through her children and grandchildren always. She could always be found on the sidelines of Coleman sporting events and theater cheering on her grandchildren, and sitting with whatever part of the family wasn't on the field, court or stage. She was a tireless cheerleader for her grandkids, both on and off the field, the most loving, giving and generous Grandma anyone could ask for, the one Matt, Jim, Mike and Kate were so lucky to have and call their own. All their lives will forever be better and enriched because of her presence in them.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday July 27th from 2-4 & 7-9pm.
