Mary Ann Houghtaling of Greenkill Ave., Kingston died Monday, February 25, 2008 at Kingston Hospital. She was 71.
She was born January 10, 1937 in Kingston, a daughter of the late John A. and Margaret M. Amarello Carle.
Mrs. Houghtaling had worked in assembly for IBM in Kingston and also worked for New York Telephone and A & W Restaurant.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church and was a 34 year member of the Columbiettes, Kingston Council # 275 and was active in the Saugerties Columbiettes as well. She held all the chairs of the Kingston Council and the New York State Columbiettes, serving as State President in 2002 and 2003. Mrs. Houghtaling was active in the former Kingston Indian Drum and Bugle Corps and for many years worked in the concession stand for the Knothole Little League. She was a founding member of the Good Neighborhood Club of East Kingston.
Survivng is her husband, John H. Houghtaling and two daughters, Marie Smith of Easton, PA; Peggy Bockelmann and her husband, Kevin of Kingston and a son, Michael Houghtaling of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Jacqueline Van Etten and Arlene Rion, both of Kingston and a brother, Bernard Carle of West Hurley. Four grandchildren, Kevin Bockelmann Jr., David and Sarah Bennett and Olivia Smith and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home on Wed. from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 pm. A funeral procession will form on Thursday at 9:15 am from the funeral home. At 10:00 am a funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
