Martin Andrew Josefski, 48, of New York, NY, passed away suddenly from a heart attack in his sleep Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home in Manhattan. He was born March 14, 1966 in Kingston, NY to the late Stephen and Doris (Edge) Josefski.
He was an artist and photographer of great passion, insight and skill. His photography works spanned art, nature, athletic competition, portraiture, travel, and social commentary. He was never without his camera, always generous to family and friends with his work, sharing his love for his art. Martin worked for many years with his long-time friend Pete Weyand, professionally photographing horse shows every summer. He also assisted photographer Duane Michals with whom he shared a long friendship.
Martin was a gifted and dedicated athlete, playing soccer and baseball and softball on many teams throughout his entire life. He was a Central Park Softball League champion many times. In recent years he was also a member of the historic baseball team the Hoboken Nine. Everyone knew of his deep love for the Yankees and how he enjoyed going to games at Yankee Stadium. He was passionate about music. Martin appreciated all kinds of music, and was grateful for live music played by friends, family, or a favorite band. This love he freely shared with his friends and family. He loved his life in New York City and often shared this love and knowledge of the city with friends and family.
Martin will be missed immensely by all who knew him, for he was taken from us much too soon. He was a gift of luck: a talented, kind, funny and smart man who loved and was loyal to his family and friends and who happened to find four leaf clovers everywhere.
Martin is survived by his beloved Beth Bagner; his siblings Mary Lou Esposito, Stephen Josefski, Mark Josefski, Susanne Parker, David Josefski, and Dawn Josefski; brothers-in-law Joseph Esposito, Mark Parker; sisters-in-law Lori Josefski, Karen Levine and Bonnie Josefski; nephew Michael Esposito; nieces Kathryn Esposito, Alexandra Josefski and Hannah Josefski; and many friends and extended family.
