Marlene Phyllis Lawson

June 12, 1950 — April 28, 2010

Marlene Phyllis Palmer Lawson, 59, of West Greogory Street, Pensacola, FL, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Benedictine Hospital, Kingston, after a sudden illness. She was born June 12, 1950 in Kingston, the daugher of and Rosamund Palmer and the later Rev. Oscar Palmer.

Marlene accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and loved and served him until she departed this earth. She had an "Angelic Voice" and loved to sing his praises. Marlene was a member of the
Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida under the Pastorship of Rev. James S. Young.

Marlene was primarily educated in the Kingston School System and was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1968; she then attended Ulster County Community College and had worked at the Peg Leg Bates Resort in Kerhonkson.

Marlene moved to Detroit, MI in 1971. She attended Wayne County Community College and was employed at the Mayflower Moving Company. While in Detroit she met the love of her life, Willie Lawson. They later moved back to Kingston and were married on September 28th 1985. She was employed at Met Life until they moved to Pensacola, Fl. Marlene gave birth to two wonderful sons, William Palmer of Kingston and LSSN Willie J. Lawson, Jr. US Navy, San Diego serving on the USS Ronald Regan. She was a loving and devoted mother and they were the "apple of her eye".

In addition to her loving and devoted husband and her beloved sons and her mother she leaves to cherish her memory; siblings Alverta Jones of Kingston, Leanalda Burgess and her husband DeWayne of Framingham, Mass, Oscar Palmer of Framingham, Mass., Cynthia Palmer - Clements and her husband Curtis of Southfield, MI, Deborah Milner and her husband Larry of Kingston, Michael Palmer of Kingston, Camilla Moore and her husband Donald of Saugerties, Crystal Palmer of Kingston and Jerome Palmer and his wife Colleen of Kingston, a grandson Markelle Palmer of Kingston, a god daughter LaTasha Smith of Tampa, Fl and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

A Going Home Service will be held at the St Mark's AME Church, 72 Wurts St. Kingston, on
Saturday May 8th at 11 AM. The Reverend Faye Taylor officiating. The Reverend James Childs will deliver the eulogy. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 6 - 8 PM.
