Mark Steven Lanier, of Ulster Landing Rd., Saugerties, NY, died August 14, in Kingston, after a long illness. He was 60 years old. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 16, 1954, Mark was the beloved son of the late Mildred M. and William C. Lanier. He graduated from Saugerties High School in 1972, and went on to attend Ulster County Community College. Mark worked for IBM in Fishkill and Burlington, Vermont, where he made his home until he moved back to Saugerties in 2012.




In his younger years, Mark was a skier, even working for awhile as a ski instructor. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, who enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping, especially at the family's summer cottage on the Pickerel River, in Northern Ontario, Canada. A devoted Cowboys fan, Mark enjoyed socializing with his friends, and watching the games. He was an animal lover and found much joy in spending time with his dog Alfie.




Mark is survived by his sisters, Linda Lanier, of Saugerties, and Jane Driscoll, of Rhinebeck. In addition, he is survived by his nephew James Driscoll, of Brooklyn, and his niece Kate Driscoll of Kingston.




Private arrangements are being handled by Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401. Inurnment will be at a later date.
