Mark S. Kachigian, formerly of Kingston died Sunday, Februay12, 2012 in Tulsa, OK. He was 89.
He was born in Kingston, the son of the late George and Rose Kaloostian Kachigian, Armenian immigrants.
He graduated from Kingston High School in 1941 where he was a running back on the football team. He attended Cornell University until he enlisted to serve in World War II with the army medics. He went ashore on the beaches of Normandy in the D-Day invasion and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
He worked for the telephone company for over 30 years and retired as a mechanical engineer. He was a past president of the United Way of Ulster County, a Mason and a member of the Reformed Church of the Comforter.
With the exception of the last three years in Tulsa, he spent his entire life on the family property in Kingston, NY.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Asadorian Kachigian and his son Peter.
Surviving are his daughter, Flo Kachigian of Kingston and his son, Mark Kachigian and his wife Lou Anne Kachigian of Tulsa and his grandchildren, Chip and Grace Kachigian.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, 10:00 AM at Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. The Rev. David Brechter will officiate.
