Mario Villajuan

Mario R. Villajuan, 96, of Kingston, NY passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 29, 2024.  Born and raised in the Philippines, Mario served as a Scout for the Filipino American Guerilla Forces during World War 11.   He rose up to the rank of 2^nd Lieutenant in the 12^th Division of the Western Luzon Guerilla Forces which earned him the honor bestowed upon US Veterans.  He attended the University of Santo Tomas and National University which paved the way for his role as the Supervising Mechanical Engineer for the City of Manila thereafter.  

In 1979, at age 51, he made a bold move and sacrifice in leaving an established career. He relocated his family to the United States settling in the Kingston area in search of better opportunities in this newfound country.  He held various jobs at Canfield Brush Works, National Micronetics and Kingston/Benedictine Hospital to support his family and a sister in the Philippines.  Upon retirement, he devoted much of his time donating to the Salvation Army, volunteering for the People’s Place and local food kitchens in the area.  In his leisure time, he was an avid backyard vegetable gardener and a daily swimmer at the Kingston YMCA.  

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Victoria, five children, Marivie, Arnold, Joana, Ruby and Glenda, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mass Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 242 Wall Street, Kingston, NY 12401 followed by Entombment at Wiltwyck Cemetery Mausoleum 205 West O’Reilly Street, Kingston, NY 12401 (845-331-1099).
