Marilyn E. Zimmerman of Washington Ave. died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. She was 76.
She was born in East Orange, NJ, a daughter of the late Harry Charles and Edna May Smith Knoell. Formerly of NJ, Marilyn sang with the "Sweet Adeline's." She was the first organist for the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Keyport, NJ.
She moved to Kerhonkson in 1971 and for many years co-owned and operated, with her husband, "MZ Creations" (ceramics.) She also operated a greenhouse business in Kerhonkson.
A former member of the Saugerties Power Boat Assoc., in 1995 Marilyn moved to Hurley.
Her husband, Richard H. Zimmerman, died May 30, 1994. Loving mother of Shelley Ryan and her husband Darren of Amsterdam, Richard Zimmerman and his wife Marta of Kerhonkson, Eric Zimmerman of Rhode Island, Jay Friedman of Poughkeepsie, Mark Zimmerman and his wife Kris of Kerhonkson, Paul Zimmerman of Woodbourne, Diane Michelotti of Woodstock and Rachel Miller and her husband Daniel of Hurley; sister of Janice Bury of Florida and the late Donald Knoell, Claire Woolley and Doris Kofoed. Thirteen grandchildren, one great grandson, many nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:30 AM. Rev. Charles Stickley will officiate. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
