Marilyn Pekarowitz Zirke

Marilyn Zirke of Lake Katrine died Friday, August 22, 2008 at TenBroeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 75. She was born in Brooklyn on December 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Hyman "Chaim" and Frieda "Frede" Slavin Pekarowitz. For many years she worked as a Junion Chemist for the NYC Department of Health. She later worked as a free-lance copy editor in Westchester. She volunteered for the John Jay Homestead in Bedford, NY. She has lived in Lake Katrine since 1997. Her husband Robert L. Zirke, one sister Rosaline Pekarowitz and one brother Sidney Peck all died previously. Surviving are a sister in law, Bernice Peck of Brooklyn, one nephew Mark Peck and his children Caryn and Craig; one niece Roberta Carlin and her daughter Sydney. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sharon Gardens in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla. Cantor Robert Cohen will officiate.
