Marie Antoinette Wojcio

Lake Katrine Marie Antoinette Wojcio of Genesee Ave., Lake Katrine died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at her home. She was 92. She was born in Pietragalla, Basilicata, Italy, a daughter of the late Rocco and Lucia Pafundi Sabino. Marie immigrated to this country as a young child, settled in this area and married Stanley Kenneth Wojcio in 1943. A Kingston High School graduate, Marie worked as a L.P.N. at Benedictine Hospital and then graduated Ulster Community College as a Registered Nurse. Marie was a Head Nurse at Kingston Hospital for almost 20 years. She retired in 1980.She previously volunteered as a leader with 4H in Lake Katrine for many years. Beloved wife of the late Stanley K. Wojcio; loving mother of John Wojcio and his wife Alice of Endicott, Linda Shaut and her husband Robert of Lake Katrine and the late Lucia Wojcio who died April 29, 1980; sister of the late Michael and Carmine Sabino; grandmother of Elisa Buddendeck and her husband Mike, Jenna Dino and her husband Dick, Dan Shaut and his wife Erika, Andrea Shaut and her husband Joey, Gina Shaut and David Shaut; great grandmother of Hallie, Jaiden, Audrey, Cade, Jazlina and Gisella. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Reposing at Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A "Nightingale Service" will be conducted by area nurses on Wednesday evening. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
