Margo Colen, 90, of East Drive in Hurley, died Friday, May 2, 2014 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus.
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Julius & Rosel Oppenheimer Kulb. She was a resident of Holland and came to America in 1949, having survived the Holocaust. On June 19, 1949, she married Joseph Colen in New York City and the two of them moved to this area in 1957 when Joseph went to work for IBM in Kingston. A long-time member of Congregation Ahavath Israel, she was active in the Sisterhood and served as a Sunday school teacher for 26 years.
Margo is survived by her two children, Jay Charles Colen and his wife Francine of New City, NY, her daughter Dr. Diane Colen Wakely and her husband David of Madison, WI. Three grandchildren, Jeffrey Colen, Michael Wakely and Benjamin Wakely, also survive.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave at 1:00 PM, with Cantor Devorah Gartner of Congregation Ahavath Israel.
Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
