Kingston- Margaret Whitney Hillegas of Washington Ave. died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at Kingston Hospital. She was 104.
She was born January 31, 1900 in Seneca Castle, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Clara Page Whitney.
She received her masters degree from Syraucse University and was a home economics teacher for the Solvay Union Free School District for 44 years, retiring in 1966.
She attended St. James Methodist Church.
Her great-great-great grandfather was Capt. Jonathan Whitney, a Revolutionary War hero during the battles at Ticonderoga.
Loving mother of Martha Pearson and her husband Ken, sister of Harriet Blanding Taylor and the late Maurice, Harold and Richard Whitney, grandmother of Kim Pearson and his wife Vickie, Laurel Riker and her husband Harry, Eric Pearson and his wife Elaine Zacharcznko, Hung Lee and his wife Manyu, great –grandmother of Julie M. Pearson, Scott M. Pearson, Gretchen E. Riker, Andrew T. Riker, Zachary E. Pearson, Becky W. Lee and aunt of Hal Blanding, Roger Whitney and Jean Whitney.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 2 – 5 pm. At 7:00 pm, funeral services will be conducted at St. James Methodist Church by Rev. Jeffrey Glassey. Burial will be Saturday in Whitney Cemetery, Seneca Castle, NY.
