Margaret Marino, former Tax Collector of the Town of Ulster, died March 20, 2007 at Benedictine Hospital. She was 87.
She was born in Kingston on February 6, 1920, a daughter of the late Lacey Smith and Ruth Hope Countryman Burger.
A lifelong area resident, Marge lived on Neighborhood Road in Lake Katrine.
She served as Tax Collector in the Town of Ulster from January 1990 to December of 2005. She belonged to the Ulster County Clerk and Collectors Association.
A parishioner of St. Colman's Church, she belonged to the Altar - Rosary Society. Marge served as past president of the Town of Ulster Republican Club.
Her husband, Nicola 'Nick' Marino died December 11, 1990. Her sister Alice Garritt died previously.
Surviving are her daughter, Dena Jankowski and her husband Donald of Lake Katrine; two granddaughters Brooke and Brittany Jankowski; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday from 7-9 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Colmans Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be St. Mary's Cemetery.
