Margaret (McSpirit) Maxson, 89, of Hurley. Margaret has always placed the following memoriam in the Freeman for her beloved husband. "Dear Rocky, you were my guiding light that will shine in my heart forever. I love you and think of you every day. We will meet again". She will no longer need to place that memoriam as Margaret has passed on to heaven to join her beloved Rocky on September 7th 2016.
Margaret was born in Kingston on December 7th 1926 to the late Joseph and Catherine (Crantz) McSpirit. She attended Kingston High School. She grew up and worked on her parent's farm in Hurley. She also worked at Woolworth's, as well as the dress and uniform factories in Kingston. She married Roscoe "Rocky" Maxson, Aug 30th 1969, Roscoe passed away in 2007. She was a devoted Catholic who would attend Mass regularly or receive prayer and communion when unable. Margaret was Irish through and through, she and Rocky would attend Irish Festivals throughout the Mid Hudson Valley area, where she loved to dance. She was a lover of cats, as those who knew and loved her were aware of. She immediately won the love and affection of the staff at Golden Hill and Ten Broeck Commons, who adored her. Margaret's greatest attribute was her love for her friends and family.
In return, she was loved and adored by many generations of her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her two brothers, William McSpirit and Richard "Mac" McSpirit, and her two sisters, Ellen VanDemark and Mary "Gurly" Whitthoft.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., where friends and family may visit on Friday September 9th from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral procession will form on Saturday at 9am and proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church where at 10am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ten Broeck Commons, Activity Fund, 1 Commons Drive, Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
