Margaret Fortuso Applegate, formerly of Dobbs Ferry, died Friday, December 29, 2011 at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation, Highland. She was 84.
She was born in Trenton, NJ, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Pone. Margaret lived in Port Chester and Dobbs Ferry for many years. She later lived in Cold Spring and worked as a secretary at Westchester County Medical Center.
Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Fortuso and the late Harry Applegate; loving mother of Geri Fanelli of Saugerties, Nicholas Fortuso of Poughkeepsie and Frank Fortuso of Saugerties; grandmother of Nicholas and Jeana Fanelli, Kelley and Jon Hedin, Michael and Heather Fanelli, Annmarie Welsh, and Frank Fortuso, Jr.; great grandmother of Nicholas, Dylan, Oliver, Sage, Jack and Frank III, sister of Carolyn Lestician of Trenton, NJ and the late Sam Pone and Mary Burkhardt. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Friday from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Vigil prayers will be offered at 7:30 p.m. by Fr. James Borstelman. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook in the spring.
