Manuel B. “Manny” Lipton, 85, of Washington Ave., Kingston, Kingston died December 9, 2003 at Benedictine Hospital.
He was born in Brooklyn on March 21, 1918, a son of the late Samuel and Jennie Rogow Lipton. Mr. Lipton served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater of Operations. He moved to Kingston in 1946 and married Frieda I. Feldman.
In 1965 he founded Manny’s Art Supply and Bookstore on Main St., New Paltz. He retired in 1985. A member and past president of Congregation Agudas Achim, he was a member of the F. & A.M., Rondout Lodge #343 for over 50 years. Mr. Lipton was an avid painter.
His wife, Frieda Lipton died November 22, 1999.
Loving father of Rachelle Harmer and her husband Jeffrey of Cornwall, Marilyn Golgoski and her husband Thomas of New Paltz, Sandra Jacobson and her husband George of Coral Springs, FL; grandfather of Brian Harmer and his wife Lea, Lori Harmer, Rebecca and Tracey Golgoski, Helene, Lewis and Jennifer Jacobson; great grandfather of Aidan and Jayson Harmer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Masonic Rituals will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:45 AM at Simpson – Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Funeral services will then be conducted by Rabbi Yitzchok Hecht at 12:00 PM. Interment in Montrepose Cemetery.
