Malcolm Carnright

October 24, 1932 — March 24, 2025

Malcolm Q. “Mac” Carnright, 92, of Kingston, NY, formerly of Zena, passed away on Monday March 24, 2025, at Ten Broeck Center in Lake Katrine, NY. He was born on October 24, 1932. Mac was the husband of the late Leonora "Nora" Carnright, they wed on August 15, 1954.

Early in life he worked as a farm hand taking care of horses and other animals, but he loved horses the most and even rode in many rodeos. He later drove trucks over the road and opened a musical instrument repair shop where he also made and sold his own version of drum practice pads. After going back to school, he then worked for many years for the Town of Woodstock where he ran the Water Department until his retirement.

Mac enjoyed fast cars, bowling, hunting, bow & arrow, fishing, target shooting and skeet. He had a passion for tooling leather. He was also an avid musician playing several instruments including the guitar, banjo, organ, piano, and squeeze box.

He is survived by his children, Mark Carnright of Saugerties, NY, and Victoria “Vicky” Howland and her husband Sandy of Lake Hill, NY, his grandchildren, Kyle Carnright and Jordayn Kilfoyle, and his sister Ginny of Phoenicia, NY. In addition to his wife and parents, Mac is predeceased by his brother, Charles Carnright, who was killed in action on October 10, 1944, while serving in the US Army 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Ten Broeck Center for the wonderful care they provided.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY. The family will receive their friends on Saturday March 29, 2025, from 10am to 12pm with the funeral service taking place at 12pm. Burial will follow in Zena Cemetery.
