Madeline F. Sands

Madeline F. Sands, 89, of Kingston, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. Born in Brooklyn, she was a daughter of the late Frank C. & Mae Donner Sands. Madeline enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting figurines of cardinals and spending time with her family. Madeline is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Smith of Kingston, her son, Steven M. Soares and his wife Lorraine of Jericho, NY, one brother, Giraud Sands of Honesdale, PA. One grandson, Brian R. Smith of East Durham and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her husband, Manuel F. Soares who passed in 1965 and a great granddaughter, Angel Marie Smith who passed in 2004. Madeline will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Saturday from 11-12PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Father George Devanapalle of St. Joseph Church officiating. Interment will take place in Hurley Cemetery.
