Madalyn Terpening

Madalyn "Mitzi" Terpening, 75, of Port Ewen, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her home in Port Ewen, NY surrounded by her family. She was born on August 26, 1948, in Oswego, NY and was the daughter of the late Charles Smith and Mary Taylor.

Madalyn was married on October 21, 1967, in Oswego, NY to Daniel P Terpening. They were married for 53 years before his passing in 2020.

Madalyn was a graduate of Oswego High school, class of 1966. She attended college at SUNY New Paltz, class of 1982 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Madalyn worked for worked for UC Department of Social Service and retired in 2011. For many years she was the Senior Case manager at Golden Hill Health Care Center.

Madalyn was a long-time member of the YMCA, enjoyed yoga, Tai Chi, walking and staying active. She enjoyed playing tennis. She was a former board member of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and the Town of Esopus Library.

She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Marino and Melinda (William) McKnight. Her sisters, Donna Butler, Dorothy (Ric) Farrell, her brothers, Charles (Denise) Smith, Brett (Teresa) Smith, David (Denise) Smith, Timothy Smith. Her grandchildren, William McKnight, Dakota and Chelsea Marino as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Madalyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel Terpening, her son, Paul Bryan Terpening, her sister, Charlene Kruelle and her brother, Arthur Smith.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., PO Box 129, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, NY 12466, where family and friends may attend the funeral service on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11am.
