Mabel H. Myers

Mabel H. Myers, 94, of Bowne Street, Port Ewen, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck.




She was born June 18, 1917 in Kingston, to the late Harry and Mabel Dowell Brewer, and was the wife of the late LeRoy D. Myers, he died on April 7, 1977.




Mrs. Myers had been employed by Montgomery Ward in uptown Kingston and in the Town of Ulster, she then went to work for Barclay's Bank, retiring in the early 1980's.
She was a very active member of the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church, she was involved with the craft fairs, church dinners and the Apple Festival. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.





She is survived by her son Darrel L. Myers and his wife Edwina Myers, her grandsons Darrel L. Myers, Jr. and his wife Barbara Anslow-Myers, Joseph E. Myers and his wife Christina and Jeffrey A. Myers, two great grandchildren, Alexander and Christian Myers. Her brothers Robert Coons and Howard Coons, a sister Margaret Higgins, and a cousin Ethel DePaola.






Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, the family will receive their friends on Friday from 6 - 9 pm. The service will be held at the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
