M. Frances Bohan

M. 'Fran' Frances Bohan, 93, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, formerly of Ulster Park, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep with family by her side on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.


Fran was born September 24, 1922 in Schenectady, NY to the late Joseph and Ruth (Knapp) Stout. She was raised in Kingston and graduated from Kingston High School and Potsdam State Teachers College.

Fran married Capt. Norman 'Breezy' Bohan (USN, Retired) in Nov 1944. He passed away in 2013. Fran was a teacher for the Kingston City School District and for districts in Hawaii and Virginia. She with the family accompanied Breezy to duty stations across the United States and in Europe during his naval career.


Fran and Breezy returned to his boyhood home on the Hudson in Ulster Park in 1970. She was an active volunteer with the Port Ewen Library and the Klyne Esopus Museum. She always looked forward to traveling to family reunions at the beach, class and ship reunions, and trips to the Alps. She enjoyed gardening at her home and playing Bridge. She was a parishioner of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Port Ewen.


Fran is survived by her children David, Michael, Barbara, Richard, Stephen, and Jana, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and her niece, Debra.


Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, where friends and family may visit on Friday March 4th from 4 to 7pm. The funeral procession will form on Saturday March 5th at 10am at the funeral home and proceed to Presentation RC Church, Father Kelly Drive, Port Ewen, NY 12466 where at 11am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
