Lucy Nardi Dougherty, 79, of Henry St., died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. She was born in East Kingston, a daughter of the late Frank J. and Catherine T. Ferraro Nardi. A lifelong area resident, Lucy married Walter Dougherty on April 19, 1953. For many years she worked at school lunch programs at John A. Coleman High School and most recently at Bailey Middle School. She retired in 2010.
A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Lucy belonged to the former Altar-Rosary Society. A member of the Ladies A.O.H., she served as recording secretary. As a Democratic committee woman for the old 13th Ward, Lucy worked at the polls. She also belonged to the Catholic Widows and Widowers of Ulster County.
Beloved wife of the late Walter Dougherty who died May 21, 2005; loving mother of Gary G. Dougherty and his wife Debra Latsch of Hurley, Maureen C. Nerone and her husband Thomas of Kingston and Michael P. Dougherty and his wife Ronnie of Kingston; grandmother of Zachary and Benjamin Nerone, sister of Rosemarie Porter of Assaria, KS, Frank Nardi of Ft. Pierce, FL, Louis Nardi of Portsmouth, NH and the late Vincent Nardi of Kingston. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 3:00 8:00 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
