Lucille Kline Kalish, of Juniper Lane, Woodstock died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Surburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD. She was 85.
She was born in Kingston, NY on May 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Samuel (Shimon ben David) and Fannie (Ruchel Freyda bat Shurah) Fried Kline. She married Irving Kalish on October 12, 1947.
An elementary school teacher, in Boiceville, at the Onteora Central Schools, Mrs. Kalish later worked at Irving Kalish Real Estate as a broker in Woodstock.
She belonged to the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, Woodstock Democratic Party, and the Onteora Parent - Teacher's Association. She was a co-chair of the United Jewish Appeal, board member of the Woodstock Library and board member of Maverick Concerts. A member of the Ulster Performing Arts Center, she belonged to Hadassah, B'nai Brith and a former member of Congregation Agudas Achim.
Her husband, Irving, died November 29, 2001; two sisters Sylvia Dorfman and Helen Goldman and one brother David "Buddy" Kline all died previously.
Surviving are two daughters Shari Book of Kensington, MD, Evelyn Kalish of Trumansburg, NY; one son Leslie Kalish of Needham, MA; four grandchildren Benjamin and Rebecca Heller, David Kalish and Daniel Book; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, Kingston on Friday at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
