Louise Grace Turner Ambrose, 76, wife of Felix J. Ambrose, passed away on Sunday February 28th, 2016 in her home in Kingston, NY after a long illness. A native of Mayesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Elwin and Sadie Parnell Turner. She graduated from Bishopville High School in Bishopville, SC, Coker College in Hartsville, SC and received her Master's Degree in Education from SUNY New Paltz.
While at Coker College she met Felix Ambrose, a US Marine stationed in Beaufort, SC. They were married June 11, 1960, and made their home in Kingston where Louise taught at Myer Elementary School for more than 25 years.
Louise was a former beauty pageant queen, Miss Darlington 500, and represented Bishopville, SC in the Miss South Carolina pageant. Louise was kind and compassionate to all the lives she touched. She was a true joy to be with, a fun-loving spirit with a great sense of humor. She was a beautiful person inside and out and was so loving and caring to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving family, including her husband Felix; two sons, John and wife, Nancy (nee Fisher) of Ladera Ranch, CA, and Peter and wife, Kristen, of McLean, VA; grandchildren, Kylie, Connor, Katie, and Jack; sisters Sara Stokes of Seneca, SC, and Anne Cromartie of Black Mountain, NC; and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Her brother, Herman Turner of Timmonsville, SC, passed away in 2014.
Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Friday March 4th from 4 to 7pm. The procession will form at 9am on Saturday March 5th at the funeral home and will proceed to St. Joseph's RC Church, 242 Wall St., Kingston, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
