Louis V. Aprea of DuBois Lane, Rifton died Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Thompson House, Rhinebeck. He was 83.
He was born in Brooklyn on February 7, 1926, a son of the late Raphael and Angelina Vespoli Aprea. Mr. Aprea served in the US Navy from 1943 - 1945 and the US Marine Corps from 1948 - 1951. With the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, he was then assigned to the Marine Corps Reserve.
Mr. Aprea worked at I.B.M., Ferroxcube and Micronetics. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Arizona, a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Rosendale and the Sacred Heart Chapel in Round Top.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marino Aprea; three sons, Gerard and his wife Michelle of Roundtop; Pascal and his wife Colleen of Wendell, NC and John and his wife Julie of Walden; three daughters, Anne Roosa of Acra, Angela Aprea of New Paltz and Mary Sauer and her husband Joe of Saugerties, one sister Marie DeRosa of Manorville; three brothers Ralph and Henry Aprea, both of Manorville and Melchoir Aprea of Stony Brook; 23 grand children, 5 great grand children, many nieces and nephews.
One daughter Louise Aprea - Formanek died in 2001; one grandson, 13 brothers and sisters died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. A Requiem Mass will be offered at St. Joseph's Noviate, Round Top at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Round Top.
