Lois Anderson

Lois J. Anderson, 93, of Hurley, NY, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at home. She was born on June 8, 1931 in West Ghent, NY, daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (Rowley) Engel. She was married to Harry Gustav Anderson, Jr., they wed on August 18, 1956 in West Ghent, NY. Harry passed away in 2020. 

Lois was a graduate of Hudson High School, Class of 1949. She then attended Bouvé College in Boston and Tufts University where she graduated in 1953 with her Bachelor’s Degree. She worked as physical education instructor, teaching swimming and canoeing for the Boston YWCA, before becoming a full-time mom and homemaker for her family. 

She was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and enjoyed rock climbing. Lois was an avid reader and also loved wood turning and gardening. Lois was a long-time member of the Old Dutch Church in Kingston where she welcomed everyone as a greeter.

Lois is survived by her children, Carl Anderson of Nashua NH, Martin Anderson and his wife Kathleen of North Attleboro MA, Paul Anderson and his wife Tammy of New Ipswich NH, Karen Cuatt and her husband Matthew of St. Petersburg FL, James Anderson of Hurley NY, and Andy Anderson and his wife Tammy of Kingston, NY, her grandchildren, Christopher Cuatt and his wife Miriam and their son Desmond and daughter Elena, Jessica Voglino and her husband Anthony, Paige Anderson, Jasmine Anderson, and Laurel Anderson. 

In addition to her husband and parents, Lois is also predeceased by her brother Peter Engel of Florida. 

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Tuesday November 12, 2024 from 12pm to 2pm and then attend a funeral service that will begin at 2pm, presided over by Rev.
