Lillian W. Shiels

Lillian (Whitaker) Shiels, 93, of Kingston, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born December 6, 1918 in Pittsfield, MA to the late Chaloner and Minnie (Langenbach) Whitaker.




She was married to F. Willard Shiels who passed away on August 18th, 1957.




She attended Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield, MA.




Lillian was a manager for IBM in Kingston before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, a member of the Chapter 155 Eastern Star, the Business Professional Womens Club YWCA, and a board member for the Town of Ulster Library for over 10 years.




She is survived by her children; Darlene Shiels of Kingston, Ronald Shiels and his wife Diane of Hurley, Thomas Shiels of Dallas, TX, siblings, Chaloner Whitaker Jr. and his wife Vicki of Waxahachie, TX, Ruth Best of Chicopee, MA, grand children, RJ Shiels and his wife Angelica of Annapolis, MD, Marissa Shiels and her fianc Mathew Smith of Baldwinsville, NY and Emily Shiels of Hurley, 3 great-grandsons, as well as many nieces and nephews.




In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her siblings, Roy Whitaker, Evelyn Fahey, Barbara Whitaker, Madeline Whitaker, Minnie Sperling and Dorothy Chapman.




Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, NY, 12401, where friends may call on Friday from 4-7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the funeral home with, Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating.




Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
