Leonard Rand, 87, of Rhinebeck, died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Thompson House in Rhinebeck.
Born in Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Paul & Fannie Rand. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Leonard enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, shooting, tinkering and fixing things.
Leonard is survived by his two children, Michele Lerner and her husband, Jerry of Woodstock, Howard Rand and his wife, Deborah of Phoenix, AZ, one sister, Mildred Taub of Brooklyn, five grandchildren, Rachel Lerner Colucci, Heather Lerner Hopper, Zachary Rand, Kyle Rand, Alec Rand, five great grandchildren, Bryce, Blake, Samuel, Adriana and Devyn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Doreen "Betty" Goldenberg Rand and a sister, Sylvia Schaeffer.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave at 11:00 AM, with Rabbi Jonathan Kligler of the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, officiating.
Interment will be held privately.
