Hurley- Leighton B. Winchell formerly of Hurley Ave. died Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. He was 92.
He was born February 26, 1912 in Kingston, the son of the late Cummings and Martha Barley Winchell.
Over the years, Mr. Winchell worked at Lake Mohonk and for the New York Central Railroad. He in 1974 as an equipment operator for the Town of Ulster Highway Department.
A avid outdoorsman, he had a great appreciation for wildlife, loved dogs and enjoyed walking along the railroad tracks with his beloved Tawnee.
His wife, Florence Topp Winchell died January 4, 1984.
Surviving are four daughters, Marlene Dunn of Kerhonkson, Myrna Seneca of Kingston, Karen Van Kleeck of Anderson, SC, Sheila Black of Prescott, AZ and two sons, Wayne Winchell of Stone Ridge and Russell Winchell of Hurley. Fifteen grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren also survive.
A siste, Letha Gedney died previously.
Services and cremation were private.
