Lawrence W. Hiller, 93 of New Paltz, NY passed away on August 23, 2022 at Woodland Pond in New Paltz, NY. He was born on October 7, 1928 in Montreal, Canada. One of five children born to Robert and Edith (Pearson) Hiller.
He married the love of his life Anne Kindred at the Church of the Ascension, West Park, NY on August 30, 1952.
Lorne served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed a long career working for IBM in Computer Manufacturing and Installation and retired in 1990 after 38 years.
He was founder and member of the West Esopus Landowner’s Assoc. and a former member of the town’s Democratic Club, Klyne Esopus Historical Society, Esopus Senior Citizens and former driver for Angel Food East. He also volunteered as a docent for Walkill Valley Land Trust Historical House Tours. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Lorne will be remembered for his love of family. Survivors include his loving wife, Anne Hiller, his daughter Susan and husband Donald Berninger of Blairstown, NJ. His sisters Margaret Graham of Ottawa, Ontario Canada, Betty and her husband Bill Booth of Tilllsonburgh, Ontario Canada. His grandchildren, Kyle Berninger and his wife Ashley of Summit, NJ, Troy Berninger of Las Vegas, NV and great grandchild, Maverick Berninger of Summit, NJ. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Lorne was predeceased by his son, Larry in 1993 and his brothers Gerald and Jimmy Hiller.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Woodland Pond Health Center and Hudson Valley Hospice for their care and compassion during Lorne’s time there.

Memorial services will take place at Holy Cross Monastery, 1615 Rte 9W, West Park, NY 12493 on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11:00am.
