Lauren Peter Carpinelli

October 25, 1940 — May 8, 2011

Lauren Peter Carpinelli of Kingston, NY passed from this world at home, on Sunday May 8th, surrounded by love with his devoted family by his side. He was born on October 25, 1940 in Kingston, NY to the late Bernard Carpinelli and Virginia (Minasian) Carpinelli. He was married to his loving wife Elizabeth Faith (Crossman) Carpinelli for 38 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters Lisa Carpinelli of Northern California and her fiancé Damion Sharpe, and Megan Carpinelli of Kingston, NY. Also surviving are a brother Bernard Carpinelli and his wife Donna of Gilboa, NY, nephews, Michael Carpinelli and his wife Vicky of Osceola, NY, the late John Carpinelli, Stephen Carpinelli of Alexandria, VA, Daniel Carpinelli of New Paltz, NY and two grand nieces.



Lauren was a Kingston High School graduate, class of 1959. He then went on to the Citadel Military College of South Carolina where he graduated in 1965 and received a degree in Business Administration. After graduating the Citadel, he spent a year back in Kingston teaching special education at Onteora Junior/Senior high school, as well as being a scout master for Troop 12 in Kingston.



He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1968, serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam War, with an honorable discharge.

Lauren was a Licensed Master Electrician and Plumber and owned and operated Carpinelli Plumbing and Electric, Inc. He started Carpinelli Electric in 1972 and then expanded to include plumbing in 1982.

Lauren was an active member of the community and was also involved in local politics. He was a commissioner on the Kingston Board of Public Works, as well as a Kiwanis Club Member. He served as Chairman of the City of Kingston Conservative Party and was a member of the Ulster County Executive Committee.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending weekends with his friends hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for cooking and gardening. Growing vegetables and herbs in his large garden and sharing them with friends was one of his many joys.



Lauren had a genuine sense of compassion and kindness for others and he brought a sense of light heartedness and joy to each occasion. He lived his life with a strong faith in God, and a wonderful sense of humor. He passed from this world into the next as he had always lived his life, with courage, acceptance, grace, dignity, humor and no complaints. A true hero and gentleman in every sense, with the spirit of an eagle, he touched many lives and made them better. He was a true and devoted family man and good person through and through. We wish him well in his new life, he will be missed.

Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, NY 12401, where services will be held on Thursday May 12th, at 11 am. Friends may call on Wednesday May 11th , from 4-7pm. A graveside service will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston.
