Kevin A Brown

August 22, 1956 — May 12, 2016

Kevin A Brown, 59, of Kingston, passed Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, surrounded by his loving family. Kevin was born August 22, 1956 in Camden, NJ, he was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1974, and then attended SUNY Ulster.

Kevin was a very talented and creative soul with a love for fashion. He followed his passion and embraced his creativity by employing himself as an interior designer. Kevin did it all, from fashion shows in his hometown to sewing and creating his own designs. He even could put wedding planning on his resume. When his first niece got married he not only planned the wedding and reception, but he made the bouquet and the two flower girl's dresses. Kevin could take rags and make them into riches. For his nieces wedding he took one dress and cut it in half to make two dresses for each of the girls to walk dow the aisle.

Kevin's presence was a magnetic energy that everyone wanted to be around. He lit up the room with his witty jokes, which always made him the center of attention. He always told his nieces and nephews "stay away from them pepper heads." When he wasn't warning them about the "riff raff", Kevin was driving them around in the car doing brake checks. He would hit the breaks and say "check up from the neck up" as they would laugh and scream.

He will be remembered for his humor, his smile and his heart of gold. Kevin loved his family and enjoyed cooking. He never wanted to see anyone go without food or clothing. Kevin's most famous recipe was his baked mac & cheese. He refused to try anyone else's recipe and always said "it ain't mac & cheese if you ain't got the asiago."

Kevin touched the lives of many, especially his nieces and nephews. They say that it takes a village to raise a child and although he never had children of his own, he helped to inspire his siblings offspring. Kevin encouraged his nieces and nephews to do good in life and to reach for the stars. He always reminded them that they came from kings and queens and to hold their head up high as if they were royalty.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Kingston, New York. He loved his brothers and sisters who he kept close relationships with throughout his life.

Kevin leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Joan Brown Gaunt, his sibling Carl J. Brown and his wife Christine, Denise J. Brown, Sherry Gaunt, Charles Gaunt and his wife Terry-Lynn, Mark Gaunt, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
