Kenneth J. Evans, Jr. of Old Route 213, High Falls died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home. He was 80.
He was born in Kingston, a son of the late Kenneth J. and Catherine Boice Evans. He attended Kingston High School. Mr. Evans served during WW II in the US Air Force in the European Theatre of Operations.
He married Julia L. Verigan on January 13, 1951. A carpenter by trade, for many years he worked construction in this area. He also worked at Electrol, Hudson Cement and helped dig Shaft #8 at the Neversink Tunnel Project.
One sister Gladys Fabiano, one brother Robert Evans and one grandson Brett Evans all died previously.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 59 years, are two daughters Deborah A. Carlsen and her husband Thomas of Tillson, Dianna L. Evans of High Falls, two sons Kevin J. Evans and his wife Angela of High Falls and Brian D. Evans and his wife Emily of Accord; one sister Charlotte Fatum of Town of Ulster, six grandchildren Richard Stokes, Kenneth, Taylor, Ashley, Christina, and Kyle Evans; three great grandchildren Joshua and Ava Stokes and Chad Evans, many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service, conducted by Rev. Richard Wright, will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
