ULSTER PARK- Kenneth E. Light, 77 of Hardenburg Road, Ulster Park died on September 12, 2014 at Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus. Born August 12, 1937 in Kingston, he was the son of the late Earl and Geraldine Marveggi Light.
He grew up in West Park and was a 1955 graduate of Highland High School. He was also a graduate of the National Radio Institute of Industrial Electronics. Kenneth was employed by IBM for 37 years and retired in 1993 as senior electronic technician and was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He was a life member of the St. Remy Volunteer Fire Department where he held several offices including Chief and Fire District Commissioner. Kenneth was Past President of the Esopus Township Sportsmen Club, he assisted many years in teaching hunter safety courses for the N.Y.S. DEC. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and especially enjoyed his camp in the Adirondack Mountains. He also enjoyed woodworking and woodcarving, guitar and banjo playing, and was an avid reader and history buff. Kenneth also had a talent for fixing things.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan M. Heiser Light; they wed on October 21, 1961. Two daughters: Lisa Traver of Leeds, NY and Lori Beesmer and her husband Kenneth of Kingston, four grandchildren: Jordyn, Alec and Cade Beesmer and Colton Booth. One brother Earl Light Jr. and his wife Linda of West Park, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral Service and Cremation Services, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 4 - 7 pm. The service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11am. Burial will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery. Light a candle in memory of Kenneth at
