Kenneth Cluen

d. June 8, 2014

On June 8, 2014, Kenneth Cluen, of High Falls, died peacefully after a long illness, with his loving wife Virginia at this side. Ken was a beautiful soul who lived his life as he died, with grace and a sense of humor. An artist at heart, Ken's interests were varied and many. He was an avid reader, a birder, a history buff, and a political enthusiast. Growing up on the Great South Bay instilled in him a sense of wonder for nature and the sea. As a wordsmith, his storytelling and puns were legendary. He served one term as town councilman for the Town of Rosendale beginning in 2006. He was proud of the role he played as liaison to the Youth Commission and the Town Transfer Station. For over 40 years Ken worked as a master carpenter and builder in Ulster County. His crowning achievement was the home he designed, built and lived in for over twenty years. Above all, Ken was a devoted and loving husband to Virginia, his wife of twenty-five years. Born in New York City, he was a son of the late John and Grace Martin Cluen. Ken is survived by his wife Virginia Ferri of High Falls, a brother, Edward Cluen and his wife Theresa of Cocoa Beach, FL, a sister, Ann Sullivan and her husband Joseph of Fonda, NY and a host nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by three siblings, Jack Cluen, Grace Gunther and Raymond Cluen. A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Rosendale Recreation Center on Route 32 in Rosendale, NY. Information regarding memorial donations will be available at the service.
