Kathleen Hart, 82, of Rhinebeck, formerly of Kingston, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Ferncliff Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Ogdensburg, NY, she was a daughter of the late Thomas & Bernadette Whelan Costello.
Kathleen attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Kingston High School. While raising her children, she worked part time at Eng's Restaurant and later in life at Met Life Insurance Company. Kathleen was always known for her delicious, creative cooking and beautiful presentations.
Kathleen was the consummate gardener, chef, and hostess who taught her children an appreciation of the foods, spices, and herbs of other cultures through the farm to table experience at their own home. Her dishes were not only delicious, but professionally presented as a work of art.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Christine Burnham of Hampton, NH, a son, George Hart of Kingston, two daughters, Kathleen Surman of NY, and Ursula Harvey. 9 grandchildren and two great grandsons. Her good friend Jean also survives her.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was predeceased by a son, Gregory Hart.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 9:00 AM.
Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
