Kathleen ''Kay'' M. Proper, 90, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine. She was born May 6, 1922 in Kingston, to the late Kenneth and Anna (Glass) Deyo. She was married to Leslie Proper, Leslie passed away on January 2nd 2003. Kay worked for Hercules Powder Company and Met Life for several years and then worked for Saugerties Central Schools before retiring and moving to Avon Park, FL. In Florida she was very active in her church and often volunteered at the local hospital. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Kingston. Kay is survived by her children, Carol Van Wagner of Kingston, Kathy Proper-O'connor and her husband Walter of Mt Marion, Timothy Proper Sr. and his significant other Marie of Mt Marion, her siblings, Richard Deyo of Kingston, Esther Aldridge of New Hampshire, 7 grand children, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Gerald Proper and her siblings Reginald Deyo, Gertrude Johns & Donald Deyo, and her grand daughter Tonya Register.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, where friends may call on Sunday from 2-4pm with a memorial service starting at 4pm with Rev. James Rowe, officiating. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4027 or American Cancer Society, P.O.
