Katherine "Kay" Jean Heppner, 76, of DuBois St, died October 14, 2012 at Kingston Hospital.
Born in Shokan, she was a daughter of the late Lester & Mary Jones Alexander.
Katherine was the first graduating class at Onteora High School in 1954. She worked at the NYS Conservation Dept after working as a special needs bus monitor for Kingston City Schools. She also worked for Rotron. She was an avid bingo player and New York Mets fan.
She is survived by her children; Lawrence Alexander of Indiana, Richard Phelps of Ohio, Alan DeCicco of Florida, brothers; Dean Alexander of Olivebridge, Terry Alexander of Kingston, Jimmy Alexander of West Hurley, sisters; Evelyn Zanos of Kingston, Donna VanKleeck of Shokan, Josie Churchwell of Olivebridge, Cindy Genther of Saugerties, two step-sons; Jack Heppner of Ruby and Fred Heppner of Kingston. Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and dear friend Joyce Champlin also survive.
In addition to her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband; John G. Heppner, a daughter; Eunice Jean Phelps, three brothers; Billy Alexander, Frank Alexander, Thomas Alexander and long time companion; Michael Sickler.
A graveside service will be held today (Thursday) at North Marbletown Cemetery, Marbletown at 12:00 noon.
