Julia Stalter, formerly of Crane St. and Stuyvesant Charter in Kingston, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was 97.
She was born June 3, 1911 in Kingston a daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Lurie Isaacson.
A housewife, she was a member of AARP, Ulster County Ladies Fire Auxilliary, Hurley Fire Co. Auxilliary, Wiltwyck Seniors, Golden Age Seniors, Colonial Seniors and St. Joseph's Seniors.
Surviving are her caregivers, her nephew and niece William and Madeline Rodden of Saugerties; two step-daughters, Genevieve Polacco and Violet Williams both of Kingston; her sister Sylvia "Sara" Stanger of Brooklyn. Also surviving are nephews James Rodden and Clifford "Greg" Sinsabaugh and her dear friend, Bernice Anner.
Her first husband, Delancy "Dee" Castor died in 1968 and her second husband, Clayton Stalter Sr. died February 21, 1977. Two brothers, David "Babe" Issacson; Morris "Maish" Issacson and two sisters, Eleanor Sinsabaugh and Ruth Feldberg died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, 11:30 AM by Cantor Robert Cohen. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
