Julia M. Gallo, 90, formerly of Harwich St. and Dutch Village died peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Health Alliance Hospital.
Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Knight Whipple.
She was a member of the KHS class of 1949. As a young woman, she worked as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Ward and was later employed by Skyline Factory.
On November 19, 1950, she married the love of her life, Anthony C. Gallo, Sr. They celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to his death in 2015.
Julia is survived by her children Anthony (Nancy) Gallo, Jr. of Saugerties, Linda (Michael) Brown of Lansing, Michigan and John, Vincent, and Lisa Gallo of Lake Katrine. She was the grandmother of Kyle (Ashley) Brown, Emily (Gabe) White, Noelle (David) Greeley, Jessica (Korey) Harrison and Elizabeth Gallo.
She was also the great grandmother of Mason and Nolan Brown, Isabella and Penelope White and David and Emma Greeley. Julia is also survived by her sisters Alice Studler of North Carolina and Dorothy Diehl of Florida. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Julia was predeceased by her siblings Linda, Walter and Donald Whipple and Virginia Relyea.
Julia will be reposing at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home on Sunday February 27, 2022, from 2:00-6:00 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s church.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
