Judith Ruth Knox

Judith Ruth Knox, 83, of Kingston passed away at home on Friday, December 2, 2022. She was born August 5, 1939 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Brown. Early on, Judy worked at Benedictine Hospital for a number of years as a nurse’s aide before becoming a teacher’s aide in the Kingston City School District. Judy taught reading to many of the district’s youth, a job she cherished and loved, retiring after 30 years of service. Judy was a member of His Word Revealed Church and had a strong faith in the Lord. Judy enjoyed dancing and had unrequited love with Smokey Robinson. She enjoyed spending time with her large family, sharing good food, lots of laughter and love. She leaves behind to cherish her memory 11 children: Keith Brown, his wife Shirley, of Atwater, CA; Theodore VanDyke, Jr., his wife Mary, of Glenford, NY; Debra Benson of Charlotte, NC; Daryl VanDyke, his wife Diane, of Los Banos, CA; Vella Bergeron of Houston, TX; Dwayne Henderson, his wife Reshma, of Kingston, NY; Robert Knox, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; Stephanie Wilson, her husband Hilton, of Atlanta, GA; Guy Knox, his wife Takayo, of Santa Nella, CA; Stephan Knox, his wife, Dawn, of Hurley, NY; Crystal Knox of Kingston, NY; two God children: Tamekia Landerway and Juan “JP” Knox; 28 grandchildren, 18 great-children and one great, great grandchild. Judy is predeceased by her husband, Robert S. Knox, Sr., her daughter, Gina Kinyon, and her siblings, Joseph Brown, Jr., Lois Weston, and Joan Weston. Homegoing service will be at His Word Revealed Church, 205 Route 28, Kingston, NY, on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 12:30 pm. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Pastor Theodore VanDyke, Jr., presiding. Burial in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston, NY. The family wants to express their sincere appreciation to Judy’s caregivers from Hudson Valley Hospice, Caring Connectors and, specifically, Victoria, Mary, Ciara, Tatiana and Dezhelle.
