Josephine L. Misasi, 91, of Kingston, passed peacefully on May 15, 2014 after a long and healthy life.
Josie, as she was known to her friends, was born in East Kingston, NY to John and Laura (Secreto) Crespino. Josie's career spanned nearly 3/4 of a century, beginning as an associate for the Local 259 Int'l Ladies Garment Workers Union and culminating in the many years of volunteer work at St. Joseph's Church, Golden Hill Nursing Home and Castle Point Veteran's Hospital. She dedicated several years as President of the Joyce Schirick Post 1386 VFW Ladies Auxiliary and, alongside her husband Joe, was named Senior of the Year for their commitment to serving their community. Josie enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life and her resilient and persevering nature will be greatly missed.
She is survived by many loved ones: two daughters: Theresa Misasi of Kingston and Patricia Misasi Middleman and her husband Bob of New York City; grandchildren: Gina Misasi Benson and her husband Jim of Little River, SC, Joseph Misasi and his wife Rhea of Kingston, Jaime Stanley and her husband Saul of Hannacroix and Joel Misasi and his wife Jeanette of Hopatkong, and Great Grandchildren: Liliana Josie Benson, Sofia Rose and Lucia Gale Misasi, Saul and Leonard Stanley, and Rita, Jayne (and a new baby sister) Misasi and several very special nieces and nephews, and relatives through marriage.
The two special men in her life both passed in 2011, her husband of nearly 70 years, Joseph Misasi, and her loving son, Joseph Misasi Jr. She was predeceased by her siblings: Donald, Ralph, John, Anthony, and Charles Crespino, Rose Dolan and Anna Francello.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Church at 10:00 AM.
Entombment will follow in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum.
