Joseph P. "Junior" Costello, Jr., 88, of Port Ewen, NY, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017. He was born January 12, 1929 in the Bronx, to the late Joseph and Catherine (Carpino) Costello. He was married to Judith (VanGaasbeck) Costello; they wed on October 24, 1959. Judith passed away in 2007.
Junior served in the US Army Band as a saxophonist during the Korean War. He later owned his own restaurants, was a chef for United Marine Division Tug Boats, and most recently was the Chef at the Ulster County Jail.
He is survived by his children, Jodi Gallo and her husband Gary of Kingston, Joseph P. Costello, III and JoEllen Verna of Phoenix, AZ, Paul Costello and his wife Stephannie of Kingston, and his siblings, Dolores Palumbo and Vincent Costello. He was loved by his grandchildren, Lauren, Ashley, and Matthew Gallo, Cipriana and Joseph Costello, and Trent and Jansen Costello, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, NY, where friends and family may visit on Friday February 17 from 4pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 467 Delaware Ave., Kingston, on Saturday February 18 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made to Trent Walter Costello Memorial Scholarship, c/o Rondout Savings Bank, 300 Broadway, Kingston, NY 12401.
